We had an early flight from Cali
to Envigado-Medellin and when we arrived to Hotel we had to wait to check in,
so we went out to see the place and we could eat our breakfast. I have to say:
that was easy, because our hotel is on 70 street, near to Atanasio Girardot
stadium and that is a busy street where there are hotels and restaurants on all
street. We were lucky! The typicl paisa breakfast is: corn bread (arepa) with
butter, parakeet egg or egg with sausage, chocolate with cheese and orange
juice. I really was surprising, because Paisas eat so much compared to Cali´s
people. I think that it was a good point to Medellin, but later i knew that so
food is a disadvantage to lunch, because if breakfast is so food, you can
imagine how lunch is.
The first day, we were in “Pueblito Paisa”. That
is an emblem of the city and that is on top of hill Nutibara. The view is
wonderful from there. You can see all city from the viewpoint and you listen
the noise of the city, but most interesting was that i felt at another time,
because “Pueblito Paisa” is a representation of typical antioqueño town in the
century twentieth. In the hill, you can found a little museum about the
photography history in Colombia and you can access at low cost.
On the other hand, if you visit Medellin on
December, you can’t forget to go to lighting, because Medellin is characterized
for its spectaculars city lightings, but we had some problems with the plan,
because we were trying for 3 days go to the lightings. However, we
couldn´t because the weather was a bit rainy. Finally, we had a travel with my
uncle, whom live there and casually, we were near to lighting, so we gone and
it was a show, although I just can say that the only bad thing is that through
path there are many people and it does difficult that we could take pics and
walk.
After, we were visiting the thematic parks and
by subway is very easy arriving there. North of the city, you can found
the parks, but the most interesting for me was the Explore Park. Explore is an
interactive park about science and technology and it´s amazing because I could
feel me like a kid again and although initially, we think that park was small,
we were wrong, because the Explore Park is very large. We had a funny moment,
because when we left the park was night and it was a big surprise, because we
really don't feel spend time and we had to run to cross street, because our
last step was the planetarium and it close early. Fortunately, we could come in
to last presentation in the auditorium of planetarium.
Finally, the best visit was in Guatape to the
stone Peñol. That is a wonderful and amazing place for its scenery and
gastronomic. The stone Peñol has 220 meters high and the idea in this place is
climb to the top by 649 steps. I know, it is exhausting and it really was, but
when you arrive to the top the view is incredible. You can see all the water
reservoir from top and it has a great history that I could explain you and show
you in my next entry.
